What have you been up to?

Mad River members haven't gone into hobby hibernation since the end of the summer. During the cold, wet weather we move from the flying field to our work shops. Here's what some of our members have been up to lately:

Association President Dick K. has been busy with several projects in his workshop, including learning how to make parts with his new 3-D plastic printer. (You can get one of these printer kits for $185 shipped!) In the above picture, the printer is finishing the root sections of wings for a Spitfire.

The model prints in sections that glue together. Here are the sections of the Spitfire he had completed. He'll have a cool 38" wingspan electric model when he's done.
He's also printing formers and hatches for his giant scale Cessna 172h.
Association Secretary Rob C. is making the leap to building, including recovering a Balsa USA Stick 40, finishing a Great Planes Trainer 60 kit, and rebuilding a twin-engine Cermark BN-2 Islander.
Members- share  your winter project by sending pics to flyurbana. We'd love to see what you have been up to!

December Meeting

Well folks, the days where we can fly outside are far and few between. The cold, wet season is here to stay for a few months-  time to start planning for 2017's flying season. MRFA will be meeting this Thursday, 6:00 at the Champaign Aviation Museum in Urbana, OH. Members are encouraged to attend and have a voice in the event planning for next season- and potential members are welcome to come and learn more about the association. Speaking of events for next season...

Now is the time to order your Tower Hobbies war birds for 2017 pylon racing! Free shipping and season deals can land you a Corsair or Hellcat for under $100.

Pizza at the field!

The Association is sponsoring a pizza party at the air field for the girls youth soccer team we are sponsoring this year, Saturday, October 15th at 11:00 AM.  The team consists of seven girls ages 4 and 5.  All the players and their families are invited.  We plan on having pizza around 11:00 and would like to have some flight demonstrations for all who attend. It would be great if you could stop by for a bit, have some pizza, and fly for our guests.

Please let Mark M. know if you will be able to attend so he can order enough pizza.
